DB9-USB-RS232 modules by FTDI

New USB-RS232 modules by FTDI have been introduced to the TME’s range of products. They are designed with consideration for replacing already obsolete RS232 interface with USB interface without modifying already existing device – special design enables soldering the module in place of DB9 socket used for data transfer via RS232 interface.

This module is available in 2 versions:

• DB9-USB-F (for replacing female DB9 socket)
• DB9-USB-M (for replacing male DB9 socket).

DB9-USB-RS232 modules are equipped in USB connectors type mini-B. They are based on a common IC FT232R by FTDI. To ensure proper functioning it is only required to instal VCP drivers which can be downloaded free of charge from the manufacturer’s website (www.FTDIchip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm)

These modules can be found in the older type of applications in which USB interface was not built-in, such as:

• industrial controllers
• measurement equipment
• Automotive applications
• programmers
