Here you will find out moreBootlace ferrules find their application mainly in electrical works. They are used for clamping wires in order to connect them. They also prevent the single wire from slipping out of the cable. Additionally, ferrules make the work safer, reduce the occurrence of short-circuits in the wires and allow using a full section of the conductor. Bootlace ferrules ensure a lasting connection.
We can distinguish two types of ferrule terminals: with or without insulation. The insulation used in the production of the tip provides additional protection. High-quality of a product and materials used ensures resistance to various weather conditions. The insulated tip is built of two parts - conductive and insulating. The first, conductive part (the ferrule) is from a few to a dozen of millimeters long. It is an element clamped with special tools. On the other hand, the insulating part is usually made of plastic. The color and size of the ferrule tip depends on the purpose to which we want to use it. The isolation hole will be circular when single conductors are applied and rectangular when double ones are concerned. The bigger size is intended to accommodate two wires next to each other.
The ferrule terminals have several types that can be divided due to the tip type and versions. One of them is the TA type. It is the most popular, non-insulated type made of copper. This type can be used to work on wires with a core section ranging from 0.5 mm² to even 185 mm². The next type are insulated TE ferrule terminals. The insulation used in the aforementioned type provides additional safety during operation. The conductor section to which it is used is even from only 0.14 mm². Due to the type of ferrule tips, we can distinguish bootlace ferrules, butt splices and wire pins.
