Solid State Relays
(6 486)Solid state relays (SSR) are components whose task is to control electric current load via an electronically controlled semiconductor. The control circuit is galvanically separated from actuator circuit by optocoupler, which is a very durable barrier. In terms of the switching method, solid state relays can be divided into two types - instantaneous switching when the control signal appears and zero voltage switching. The important advantages of these components are durability and reliability, high resistance to shocks and contamination, as well as high compatibility and fast operation. They require use of a heat sink.
SSRs selection
Depending on the application in which the solid state relay will be used, its selection should be based on a few precisely defined parameters. This includes the voltage range of the load, which cannot exceed non-repetitive peak blocking voltage. The second factor is load current, which should also be lower than the specified nominal value during the start-up. The control voltage should be matched to the signal provided by the control element.
