Industrial Shields PLC drivers

Date of publication: 14-01-2025 🕒 4 min read

TME now offers PLC controllers from Industrial Shields based on miniature Raspberry Pi computers.

Industrial Shields controllers are an open source solution, allowing users to customize them to the requirements of a specific application. The Raspberry Pi computer, which is the heart of the device, requires the installation of an operating system. This can be any GNU/Linux, but the manufacturer recommends sticking with the dedicated Raspberry Pi OS system for the board. This means, among other things, that designers and contractors receive a tool that is well-documented, as well as a rich base of information published on the Internet.

A basic advantage of Industrial Shields controllers is their compatibility with any integrated development environment. The manufacturer recommends using Python, C++ and Node-RED languages.

It is also worth noting that users still have access to Raspberry Pi computer interfaces such as USB and Ethernet. The controller itself has digital inputs, analog inputs, and up to 35 outputs (depending on the model). Since the modules have built-in voltage stabilizers, their power can be supplied from any source providing voltage in the range of from 12V to 24V DC.
