Office equipment and supplies, including various types of devices, accessories and consumables, have a major impact on the comfort and efficiency of work. Therefore, proper selection of those items, in terms of their functionalities, performance, quality or design, may exert significant impact on the office personnel’s work.
We have divided the extensive array of available office supplies into 4 categories.
These include: stationery, paper products, office accessories and office fans whose importance cannot be underestimated, as they vastly enhance the comfort of office work.
Choosing a high-quality highlighter or pen can make all the difference in terms of your work comfort and efficiency, as well as the longevity and legibility of your notes or drawings. See below for a few features that should be taken into account while selecting such items:
Tip thickness
The thicker the highlighter or marker tip, the more visible the highlights. On the other hand, thinner tips facilitate precise drawing and marking of smaller elements. While selecting a ballpoint pen, one should also consider its thickness, and select the preferable size.
Tip type
Highlighters and markers come with diverse tip types, e.g. flat or round tips. Flat tips allow for wider highlights, while round tips are a better solution for precise highlighting and drawing. If you are mastering the sketch-noting method, you can also look for markers with a brush-like tip suitable for all drawing-related applications.
Colour
The colour selection depends on preferences and actual application. Yellow highlighters are most common, but a variety of other colours is also available.
Ink quality
The colour medium used must be durable and cannot leave streaks on a surface. You should always go for highlighters offered by recognised, tried-and-tested providers. The surfaces on which markers will be used are also worth considering, i.e. paper or films and other plastics.
There are three main types of white-outs which differ in their application methods and properties:
Correction fluid
It is the most popular white-out form. Correction fluid is applied with a small brush or applicator-shaped tip. It usually dries within a few seconds and can be overwritten with a pen or marker. Therefore, a correction fluid is a good solution for precise corrections of writing errors, drawings or other work that requires precision.
Correction tape
Here, the white-out is applied via an adhesive tape that needs to be slid over a sheet of paper. A correction tape is a good solution for fast error correction in texts or notes. A correction tape is also easy to use and you do not need to wait for it to dry, so you can start writing right after correcting a mistake.
Correction pen
In this case, white-out is applied using a pen whose function is similar to that of a correction fluid. A correction pen is easy to use and facilitates precise error correction, however, this solution is not as convenient as a correction tape.
While selecting the right type of paper for printers and copiers, you should pay attention to several important factors:
Paper type
Types of paper vary in terms of the basis weight, texture, colour, purpose, etc. It is therefore advisable to select paper best suited to a particular task, e.g. for printing documents, photos, posters, etc.
Basis weight
This parameter specifies paper thickness and is expressed in grams per square meter (g/m2). The higher the basis weight, the thicker and more rigid a given paper type is. For most typical applications, such as document printing, the basis weight of 80–100 g/m2 should be sufficient.
Texture
This parameter describes paper surface, i.e. smooth, semi-matt, matt or glossy. Each individual texture type impacts the printout quality and appearance.
Size
Paper for printers and copiers comes in a variety of sizes, the most popular being A4, A3, Letter and Legal.
Whiteness
This parameter specifies paper brightness and is measured in ISO degrees. The higher the number, the brighter the paper. The most typical paper whiteness grade is 80–100.
