Thanks to the progress of civilisation, which we all witness, electronic devices perform some previously inconvenient tasks with extreme precision. Such tasks include, for example, surveillance and monitoring. The use of modern and more efficient systems increases our safety level noticeably. Importantly, however, such monitoring would be completely unjustified if it operated solely in daylight or if it had to be constantly illuminated by energy-intensive street lighting. Infrared light is used in such cases with great success.
The LED fill light discussed here acts as a backlight in all types of night vision cameras and camcorders. When combined with white light, it allows to capture clear, high-quality images even in the complete absence of daylight or additional lighting. IR LEDs can also emit light continuously during the day, when the sunlight illuminates the surroundings. This solution allows to reduce backlighting and glare, which is extremely important in the case of speed cameras or cameras installed at P2P speed control points. White light falling on the license plate would make it completely unreadable and flared out in the photograph. When combined with infrared light, the image is properly illuminated. The wide range of products available from Refond allows the user to customise the beam angle. In addition, due to its modular design, LEDs can be combined into entire sets, thereby increasing the efficiency and expanding the illuminated area.
Another advantage of using such diodes is undoubtedly a very low light pollution impact. It does not glare or generate a flux that covers an insignificant space, unlike white light. Due to its wavelength, which exceeds the visual range of the human eye, it is invisible to humans. It is also worth mentioning that unlike in the case of the fill white light, the image obtained with infrared light at night is black and white.
As already mentioned, the IR LED light is used to illuminate the image in night vision cameras. Another application for these diodes is the function of tracking the trajectory of a moving object and its speed. Fill light is used for both indoor and outdoor monitoring. IR LEDs are a very important part of many high precision industrial and medical machines and equipment. Very commonly, IR diodes are also used in almost every household in TV remote controls. Thanks to the perfect signal, there is no problem to control the device if the remote control is turned in the other direction. The light wave reflects from walls and furniture and hits the target with perfection.
IR LEDs from Refond
In order to choose the right product, the technical parameters of the diodes available on the market should be taken into account. The following list presentsRefond diodes available from the TME catalogue:
IR LED lighting, although invisible to the human eye, performs very important functions in everyday life and is increasingly becoming an essential part of advanced industrial technologies. Manufacturing quality, durability and longevity are therefore extremely important. Taking into account the relatively low cost of such lighting and the great advantages it brings, it is worth choosing reliable Refond products and enjoy long-term performance of the highest quality LEDs.
